Opinion: With Sky-High Fertilizer Prices, There’s an Opportunity to Grow Crops More Sustainably
The Biden administration is paying US companies to boost synthetic fertilizer production to compensate for an unstable global fertilizer market, but there are other, more sustainable ways to cultivate crops.
Farmers are already reducing fertilizer cost over 70% while increasing yield nearly 7% with the “SNX30-XL nutrient supplement”. Why would you doubt the WORD of 3 agronomists, a past Board Member of the New York Farm Viability Institute (and farmer), a Georgia Corn Commission Board Member (and farmer), top NCGA corn yield winners, soil structure and nutrient manager and other farmers about the unmatched benefits from the “SNX30-XL nutrient supplement”? If you can’t believe them, who can you believe? As one farmer put it – It almost feels like cheating.
The biostimulant sector is fairly dispersed at the moment, but some of the products have amazing effects on crop growth and yields. Biostimulants can be applied both to the leaves of plants (foliar applications) and to the seeds (seed treatment) and can help to protect plants from plant diseases and stress (e.g. due to drought). There is also a highly anticipated biostimulant PHC949 from Plant Health Care which activates the natural defences of plants against nematode infection and is due to launch next year. These technologies will eventually change the face of farming and significantly reduce fertilizer usage.
