We're into it.
Or you could do what Mendocino, California farmer Sean Whaling does, and take off your shirt, turn up the Talking Heads and dance around, flinging dirt into planters. (Come to think about it, there’s no reason this can’t be done while grilling, for what it’s worth.)
Last week, Whaling posted a video of himself joyously dancing and planting, planting and dancing. The video was picked up by the Facebook account “Only in Humboldt,” though Whaling is actually located in the adjacent Mendocino County. “I just love to dance!” Whaling told Modern Farmer. “And thought I’d work on my video ideas and editing skills.”
Whaling told us he’s growing medical cannabis – legally, he specified – a pursuit embraced by the county government, which hosts workshops on the topic. Located north of San Francisco, almost to the Oregon state line, Mendocino, Humboldt, and Trinity Counties are known as the “Emerald Triangle,” sparsely populated but one of the largest cannabis-growing regions in the country.
Whaling’s video has, in only about a week, garnered millions of views, as well as enthusiastic replies from Facebook users all over the world. “It’s very good to know it made so many people happy. I never had a video go viral before,” he says. And in response to the many comments asking the question, Whaling told us that yes, he’s single.
