Totally Not Weird Guy Sends Ariana Grande A 43-Pound Pumpkin

Grande, for some reason, did not appreciate the thought.

Timothy Normandin of Lowell, MA is a normal guy. You can’t spell “Timothy Normandin” without “normal,” and he’s so normal and nice that he’ll even toss in the letter L as a bonus. Here’s an example of just how normal Normandin is: he has sent so many gifts to Ariana Grande, a tiny singer made mostly of brown hair, that the Lowell Police were called in to get him to stop.

The most recent spate of gifts, the totally normal straw that broke the camel’s back, included a 42.5-pound pumpkin, eight Yankee Candle-brand candles (scent unknown), a rock from New Hampshire, a set of mirrors from K-Mart, and a selection of dog and cat calendars. Boston Magazine reached out to Normandin to learn some more about the reason for his gifts, especially the pumpkin. Normandin replied that he had “heard [Grande] liked Halloween.”

Normandin was not arrested, but was advised to stop sending gifts, or else be eligible to fall under the legal definition of criminal harassment. Normandin, for his part, says he has no plans to stop sending Grande totally normal gifts, telling Boston Magazine that “Right now I possess a necklace that I will give to her.”

Our interest is mostly in the pumpkin, quite a special gift to send to someone. 42.5 pounds is a large pumpkin, grown likely for ornamental rather than culinary use. Pumpkins in excess of 40 pounds are usually referred to as “giant” pumpkins, and come in varieties with jumbo-sized names such as Mammoth Gold and Big Max. No word on which specific variety was sent to Grande, but we will, of course, update this post if we learn.
