Partnerships and Collaborations

Our mission at Modern Farmer is to inform our audience about the issues facing the food system while connecting them with opportunities to act in response to what they learn. Partnerships play a crucial role in achieving both these goals.

The term “partnership” can mean different things depending on the organization. For us, our partners are the allied organizations with whom we collaborate on shared projects that benefit our community or the North American food system, in ways that would not have been possible separately.

Our partners do not sponsor our content or fund us. While sponsors and funders are essential to ensuring our financial sustainability, we do not generate revenue through our partnerships. We may, however, co-fundraise with a partner to cover the shared costs of a project. To learn more about how we are funded, see our Funders and Supporters page.

Media

We work with media partners at the local, state, and national level to share stories more widely, collaboratively report pieces, and engage communities to inform coverage.

We are always seeking partners to redistribute, repurpose, co-publish, and co-report with. As practitioners of both solutions and engagement journalism, we approach each collaboration through those lenses.

Our media partners include:

Non-profits

We rely on the expertise of trustworthy non-profits to inform our reporting, especially as we are committed to highlighting the people working on solutions to the problems facing our food system.

To empower our audience to act in response to what they read on Modern Farmer, we vet non-profit partners and promote them to our audience, asking them to support and engage with that non-profit partner if they want to get involved.

Our non-profit partners do not pay to be featured in our stories, nor do we give them the right to review any of the stories where they are featured.
