Studly Rancher Lassoes Bad Guy in Walmart Parking Lot

It reads like a cartoon damsel-in-distress story.

Last Friday morning, rancher Robert Borba, 28, was running a simple errand at a Walmart in Medford, Oregon, loading dog food into his truck, when he heard a lady screaming “Stop that man! He stole my bike!” Problem was, the thief was pedaling away and, despite struggling to work the gears, had already gained some ground. Thinking fast, Borba freed his horse, Long John, from his trailer, mounted the steed and the two gave chase.

“The guy saw me coming [towards] him…he just throws the bike on the ground and takes off running on foot,” Borba told Medford’s Mail Tribune. “So I just went ahead and roped him.” (Did we mention that Borba grew up competing in rodeos?)

The suspect fell to the ground, legs lassoed, but still tried to escape by grabbing onto a tree trunk. No dice. About 15 minutes later, law enforcement arrived and arrested Victorino Arellano-Sanchez, 22, on a misdemeanor theft charge. “It’s not every day you get to rope somebody that did something bad,” Borba said.
