What’s In Your Bunker?
Celebs prep for the apocalypse, too. Here’s what they’d take into their bunkers.
What’s In Your Bunker?
Celebs prep for the apocalypse, too. Here’s what they’d take into their bunkers.
I would want to bring Noah and his entire ark, a 100-year-old farmer and an entire Girl/Boy Scout troop. (But only if they’d earned all their badges.) I might want to bring MacGyver as well, if he’s available.
–Jonathan Knight, Musician, New Kids on The Block
I would save a massive bag of quinoa seeds. They germinate anywhere (as a weed does). If there are no fields to plant, we could eat the leaves. Look at how well our ancestors turned out, eating it at every meal! Let’s throw in apples, flour, potatoes, sunflower oil, salt, honey and a five-gallon bucket of hot sauce as well!
— Ben Flanner, Founder of Brooklyn Grange Urban Farm
Without water I’m nothing. A bison pump fits the bill.
— John Patrick, Organic Clothing Designer
My bunker is a sailboat. I would catch fish, so a tackle box of lures, a fishing rod, a spear gun, diving gear, ext. I would also install a desalination device to be able to have potable water. Canned veggies would round it out nicely. I think I could last a while like that.
–Trevor Gordon, Visual Artist, Surfer, and Patagonia Brand Ambassador
I’d have an endless supply of chunky peanut butter and a baker to make fresh pumpernickel bagels in the morning.
–Jeff Thrope, Founder of outdoor lifestyle blog “Cold Splinters”
Husband, cats, books, chocolate (the priorities!) Water, exercise bike, water purification system pumped with exercise bike. Freeze dried thermostabilized high protein fat foods, parabolic mirrors with light piping and solar (on top of bunker). Nutrient Film Technique Hydroponics system and backup pump, seeds for leafy salad crops, especially bitter greens, tomatoes, onions, herbs and flowers.
–Gioia D. Massa, NASA Scientist
I don’t have to think to hard, cause I’ve always planned what I’d take with me to jail. A hammock (cotton, woven). The BBC World Service. Barley, fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. All the books that are currently piled up beside my bed. An extra pair of jeans, four linen t-shirts, one sweater, clean underwear, socks. A few cases of red wine.
–Meg Rosoff, Author, “How I Live Now”
I wouldn’t go anywhere without Trigger.
–Willie Nelson, Musician (Trigger is his guitar)
