Drunken Pig Barred From Booze For Headbutting

Frances Bacon, a pot-bellied pig, has been cut off at the Conquering Hero pub in London.

Frances Bacon, a 4-year-old Vietnamese pot-bellied pig, likes to swill beer and throw her weight around at the Conquering Hero, according to the Daily Express. Her owners, Ian and Vicky Taylor-Ross, who also run the south London pub where the pig is a permanent fixture, have banned the swine from drinking beer in the hopes she will stop acting so swinish to customers.

The pig had been stealing sips from the bottom of beer glasses, but when some customers gave her a beer of her own, she was cut off by her owners, who said the pig was a mean drunk, ramming into patrons’ legs with her head, the Daily Mail reports.

Ms. Bacon also has a penchant for bar snacks, it seems, and has been known to swipe salted peanuts and pork snacks, making her not just a drunken little pig, but a cannibal to boot.

The Taylor-Ross family has been trying to keep their pet on a strict vegetarian diet and off the sauce. We’ll see if the regimen sticks.

It’s unclear whether the pig was named in honor of Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626), the English scientist and philosopher, or Francis Bacon, the modernist painter (1909”“1992), but either way she’s following in their footsteps, as both had a penchant for the drink.
