But not at Farm to Feet, the newly launched clothing line by Nester Hosiery. The provenance of its socks is the foundation of its business.

What does this mean? The socks are all American-made from heel to toe, which means that materials, labor, production, even the local farmers and workers featured on the packaging of Farm to Feet socks – come from the U.S.

Kelly Nester, president of the North Carolina”“based company that also makes socks for Patagonia, Woolrich and other premium sporting companies, acknowledges that his company has taken two years to get on its feet. “But people are becoming more and more interested in where their products come from,” he says.

Farm To Feet socks currently sell at about 50 retailers (like Cabela’s) across the U.S., and Nester estimates the company will triple its sales and production by the end of 2014. The sock industry, he says, is ready to go local.
